SETU launches Primary School at Village Nithari Noida

The Setu Foundation as part of its mission to promote education among children under the Setu Shiksha Jyoti Education Scheme set up a Primary School at Village Nithari Sector 31 in Noida.  On April 23rd 2008 a SETU Shiksha Jyoti Kendra with a difference came up, it’s the first model Kendra which is almost a replica of any school with facilities which privileged children enjoy, we wanted these Kendras to encourage children to come for education on their own and not force them to the Kendra. There is specially designed curriculum which shall ensure activity based learning with a lot of focus on hygiene, etiquette and moral science while ensuring basic education. All children at the school shall be provided free books and uniform in addition to the teaching facility.

The current strength of the children at Nithari shall be 108, with not more than 18 children to a class. The school shall offer education from Class Nursery to Class five. Education shall be imparted in English medium and Hindi medium both. The school shall also have a transit facility - play school for children who need to be groomed for formal education, the transit class shall have a strength of 36 children, We have already have 47 admissions and the balance shall be completed by 01 July 2008 when the formal session starts.  A one month Summer Camp is being organised for the children already enrolled which help children learn yoga, art and craft, music and dance. The people of the village have been of great support in this endeavour of ours. The credit to ensure that the facility is up and running goes to Paromita Das - the Education Program Coordinator Amar Kumar- Project Coordinator who was instrumental in setting this up and Sindhu Ravi the Principal of the school ensured the facility was operational on time for admissions.   Delhi Public School Noida helped us with a two day orientation program for our teachers to enable them to understand the teaching methodology adopted by them so that we can give the best to our children.
