Setu -Save and Empower The Underprivileged
SETU Shiksha Jyoti Painting Competition 2009  

The SETU Foundation organized a painting competition on the 23rd of January 2009 in D.P.S. Noida. Around 200 children from all sections of society representing their respective schools in Noida participated. The theme of the event was either to Paint for the environment or how they see the world today world. This enabled the children to express their thoughts and creativity in their paintings.

Mr. Ravi Kaul, Chairman, SETU Foundation, wished all the children a bright future and also said that  SETU will continue to strive for the development of the under privileged so as to impact society.

Ms. Manocha, Head Mistress of D.P.S Noida, Mr. Sanjay Drabu, Mr. Ashok Pandit, Mr. Sumit Narain ,the key sponsor Max Life Insurance, for the event along with The SETU Foundation felicitated the children.

SETU Shiksha Jyoti Kendra launched at Village Harola Noida

The Setu Foundation as part of its mission to promote education among children under the Setu Shiksha Jyoti Education Scheme set up a Transit Centre (no formal education center) at Village Harola Sector -5 in Noida.  On 3rd October 2008 a SETU Shiksha Jyoti Kendra, the second of its kind was launched with specially designed curriculum which shall ensure activity based learning with a lot of focus on hygiene, etiquette and moral science while ensuring basic education. The Kendra  also caters to tuition of 20 Girls coverd under the SETU Shikshajyoti Scholarship Scheme in the evening shift.

The current strength of the children at Harola is 48 and the credit to ensure that the facility is up and running goes to Usha Sharma and Priya the teachers along with Amar Kumar Project Coordinator. On opening the centre was colorfully decorated and the children of the centre presented a cultural Program.Sweets were distributed  among the children who had a wonderful day of celebration at the centre. 

This also marked the formal opening of the Setu Shiksha Jyoti Kendra at Village Harola Village Sector - 5 Noida Apart from the Centre facilitators Usha Sharma and Priya and the event was attend by the Our Chairman Ravi Kaul, Paromita Das Program coordinator, Amar Kumar Project Coordinator and Arjun Nayyar Resource Mobilization Coordinator. 

 
 
Inter Kendra Children Day Celebrations at the SETU Shiksha Jyoti Nithari Kendra 


Girls of Nthari school with their desire “Chhoti  si Aasha; which is also our school’s Theme song. Their performance  won the 1st prize in dance group competition.
SSJK organized a function for the children at the Setu Shiksha Jyoti Kendra primary school Nithari Village 31 Sector Noida. All the kendras of SETU participated in the event. A cultural program was organized by the children and they participated in like singing, dancing and recitation. Prizes where given to the best performing children and sweets were distributed to all the kids and guest present for the function.

The day started with the welcome speech by the Principal Sindhu Ravi of SSJK Presented Cards and flowers to the chief guest Mr.Ashis Maan and Chairman of SETU Mr. Ravi Kaul.


The fancy dress competition was unique as each one of them taught us different lesson as a clown,  Teacher, Cigarette, Dustbin, Tailor, Vegetable  girl , Newspaper, Polythene, Khilonewali, and Tree.
The function concluded with Mr. Ravinder Kaul, Chairman, SETU, handing over scholarships under the SETU Shiksha Jyoti Scholarship Scheme to the parents of 43 children who were eligible out of the Current batch of children under going formal school education for the year 2008-2009. The scholarship has been especially designed to promote education of the Girl Child.  
 
SETU organises Aids awareness day
SETU under the Health project organised AIDS awareness Camp across NCR at Gurgoan, Delhi and Noida which covered almost 5000 employees at 20 organisations. Red ribbons were distributed and displayed by the employees covered at this organisation. Funds for our Aids projects were also raised during this exercise.
 
SETU Shiksha Jyoti Kendra launched at JJ Colony slum at Sector 16 Noida

In continuation of its Education Program, The Setu Foundation set up its 3rd Transit Centre (no formal education center) at JJ Colony Sector 16 in Noida on 3rd January 2009 and this shall ensure activity based learning with a lot of focus on hygiene, etiquette and moral science while ensuring basic education. The Kendra is also caters to tuition of 10 Girls coverd under the SETU Shikshajyoti Scholarship Scheme in the evening shift.

The current strength of the children is at 25. The credit to ensure that the facility is up and running goes to Puja Tyagi the teacher and Amar Kumar Project coordinator.

 
 
SETU organises Cancer Awareness Day

In its endeavour to fight cancer Setu under the Health project organised Cancer awareness Camp across NCR at Gurgoan, Delhi and Noida which covered almost 7500 employees at 12 organisations on 4th Febuary 2009 - WORLD CANCER DAY. Pink ribbons were distributed along with a write up on the how to prevent Cancer to the employees covered at these organisations. Funds for our Cancer projects were also raised during this exercise.

All funds have been placed on interest of 8.50% with Corporation bank and withdrawn on need basis to ensure maximum interest income. To ensure maximum utilisation of donations the founder trustees have decided to bear all day to day office related expenses till the need arises.

 
SETU Vacancies

SETU is looking for young energetic candidates to work towards the objectives of the trust. The candidates should be well groomed and have good communication skills. The posting shall be in Delhi/NCR and the remuneration shall depend on the profile and experience of the candidate. The current vacancies are for:

Coordinators Fund Raising - 3 posts : Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years experience with respect to fund raising for social activities, Should be able to travel and possession of own conveyance shall be an added advantage. Remuneration includes Salary + Target achievement Incentives.

School Teachers for the SETU Shiksha Jyoti Kendra - 3 posts ( females): Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years teaching experience with formal education in teaching like NTT/ B ed. Remuneration includes Salary + annual target achievement bonus.

Project Coordinator for SETU BAL GRAM at Noida - one posts Female – around 35 years, shall be responsible for running the facility, role would like a matron/warden with over all responsibility of the children, need not have similar experience however, if a school teacher it would be an added advantage, the quality we are looking for is the passion to work for the under privileged and a good human being who respects the her work. Remuneration includes salary + furnished residential accommodation facilities + food at the shelter.
