SETU Shiksha Jyoti Kendra, Nithari - An Update The SETU SHIKSHA JYOTI KENDRA-NITHARI completed one year on 25th April 2009 and has successfully helped all the children moved into a higher class. Out of 98 children, 55 children had a pass percentage over 85 percent, 31 between 60 to 85 percent and 12 below 60% making a pass percentage of 100%. All this would not have possible without the support of the mentor/sponsor parent who contributed to educate these children and our teachers who spent hours and laboured to ensure the children were successful. New admissions took place effective April 2009 and 25 new children joined the school. The break up is as follows : Fifteen children got admitted to pre nursery, Three to Nursery, Two to Class 2, Three to Class 4 and Two to Class 5. The current strength of the school is now 110 children comprising of 60 girls and 50 boys. |

A Show with a Difference!!!! DISCO DANCER- Yes this makes us think about the superstar of the eighties –Mithun Chakraborty!!! and what better when our children gets to meet him and cheer for him in his latest flick “ZOR LAGAKE HAIYA”. The children of SETU Shiksha Jyoti Kendra, Nithari village including the principal of the school were invited for a movie by “Gemini Motion Pictures”. As parts of SETU’s initiative towards encouraging its children to support and care for the environment, some of the children of SETU Shiksha Jyoti Kendra - Nithari were went to see the movie to make them aware of their role in improving the environment. The children interacted with the stars, enjoyed the movie and were treated to pop corns and cold drinks. We thank “Gemini Motion Pictures” and “CMS” for inviting us for the event and making it a memorable experience for the children. |

Hobby Class - while the summer was at its peak , the children at the SETU Shiksha Jyoti Kendras (SSJK) spent a major part of their summer vacation participating actively in the Hobby Classes which was organized in all the Kendras. The children learned to make articles out of re-usable materials like ice- cream stick, old compact disc, old cloths, paper and also spend time on drawing, arts and craft, painting. It was exciting experience for most of the students as this was the first time they were going thru such activities. The children created beautiful items like hand made envelopes, handkerchiefs, clay painting, pot decoration during this three week session. Children with special talent were identified and as an encouragement they were nominated for the award.
Earth Day 24th April 2009 was observed as the Global Earth Day which was celebrated at the SSJK Nithari. The Children had a special Assembly where they were educated about the significance of the day and the ways that they can contribute to save mother earth. The children learnt how they could by taking simple actions save our very own Earth, e.g. saving of power when it is not in use (putting off the lights, fan and other gadgets). They were also update on how they could help keep the earth clean and non polluted by not littering ones own surroundings. |
