|
The
Setu Foundation as part of its mission to promote education among children
under the Setu Shiksha Jyoti Education Scheme set up a Primary School at
Village Nithari Sector 31 in Noida. On
April 23rd 2008 a SETU Shiksha Jyoti Kendra with a difference came up, it’s the first model Kendra which
is almost a replica of any school with facilities which privileged
children enjoy, we wanted these Kendras to encourage children to come for
education on their own and not force them to the Kendra. There is
specially designed curriculum which shall ensure activity based learning
with a lot of focus on hygiene, etiquette and moral science while ensuring
basic education. All children at the school shall be provided free books
and uniform in addition to the teaching facility.
At
the SETU Shiksha Jyoti Kendra in Nithari we have presently 105 children
enrolled in the school between the age group of 6-14 years. The female
male ratio is 60:40 percent. The
total number of teachers in Nithari are eight, along with three support
staff and this team is headed by a Principal and all activities are
coordinated under the supervision of the Project facilitator. The children
are provided with free education, books and uniform along with day to day
